Sustainability Report 2025: Significant progress towards carbon-neutral energy use

We have published our Sustainability Report 2025, outlining the objectives, measures and results of our sustainability work, as well as the year’s key milestones.

Progress towards carbon-neutral energy use

The year 2025 demonstrated that our sustainability work is progressing as planned and delivering tangible results.

Our key objective is carbon-neutral energy use in our properties by 2030. During the year, the carbon footprint of energy consumption per apartment decreased by nearly nine per cent, exceeding our annual target of five per cent. Over the past five years, the carbon footprint of Lumo homes has decreased by a total of 60 per cent, reflecting the impact of systematic, long-term efforts.

“Sustainability is a strategic choice for us and an integral part of profitable business. We are already well over halfway towards achieving carbon-neutral energy use in our properties, and the development in 2025 demonstrates that we are progressing in line with our targets,” says Reima Rytsölä, CEO of Kojamo.

Residents’ perception of sustainability strengthened

Our sustainability work is also visible in the everyday lives of Lumo residents. In the 2025 resident sustainability survey, 84 per cent of respondents considered Lumo homes to be a responsible or very responsible landlord. This assessment has strengthened consistently in recent years.

“Acting as a reliable landlord and providing safe and pleasant homes are central elements of our sustainability work. It is important that our customers recognise our responsible practices in their daily lives. This increases satisfaction and strengthens trust in us as a landlord,” says Elina Ekelund, Sustainability Manager of Kojamo.

The Sustainability Report has been assured by KPMG Oy Ab. The scope of assurance covered key performance indicators related to energy consumption, emissions, waste, water consumption, and personnel and employment data. The independent assurance report forms part of the published Sustainability Report.

Sustainability programme update as part of the strategy renewal

During 2025, we prepared an update of our sustainability programme in parallel with the renewal of our strategy. The updated programme focuses on the themes most material to our business and stakeholders and sets clear, measurable targets to guide practical implementation. The revised sustainability programme will be published in the first half of 2026.
